(3) (Stefano) Raffaele Albertolli
(b Bedano, 21 Sept 1770; d Milan, 7 Jan 1812). Printmaker and painter, son of (1) Giocondo Albertolli. He suffered from ill-health from infancy. After having attended the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, he assisted his father in his teaching. He executed designs for architectural ornament and furniture (in collaboration with Giuseppe Maggiolini) and painted portraits and landscapes (e.g. Garden and Villa Reale at Monza, 1803; De Giacomi priv. col.). He made prints after drawings by his father and by the architect Luigi Cagnola, using engraving, etching and aquatint; this last technique he introduced to Milan. In 1803 he was elected an Academician of the Brera.
