Ambiguous Situations    Dec 8, 2011 - Jan 14, 2012

Praxis International Art is pleased to present Ambiguous Situations featuring the internationally awarded Hisae Ikenaga. The artist will be present at the opening reception, which will be held on December 8th, 2011 at 541 West 25th Street, from 6 to 8 pm.

Half Mexican-half Japanese and living in Spain, Hisae Ikenaga brings to New York her most recent series of works, all interrelated and multidisciplinary interventions. Through installation, photography, sculpture, collage, mix media and video, the artist explores the multiple meanings of her surrounding objects. We face ironic actions at her own home, questioning ideas from industrial design, and Matadero art space in Madrid, to measuring the space in reference to other objects and spaces. Ikenaga also shows modified Spanish newspapers and an in-site installation that she will produce in the gallery space, amongst inter-media and moving image works.

Hisae Ikenaga studied Fine Arts in Mexico City and completed postgraduate studies in Kyoto, Barcelona and Madrid. She has shown works in exhibitions in Cuba, Germany, Japan, México, Spain, UK, France and US, among others.
