A hero is a person of notable and distinguished courage or ability. Songs, films, and paintings have celebrated heroes and their deeds for millennia. Are the creators of the image of the hero complicit? Who is the person who paints a hero? It seems like our heroes are better than in the past, maybe a bit more real and less “super.” So how do we paint new heroes? Paintings by three powerhouse Bay Area painters on the subject of important personages.
