Opening Reception to meet the artists: Friday, April 13, 2012, 5 – 8 pm

The gallery’s Annual Still Life group exhibition is a visually stunning selection of 80 oils, pastels and watercolors by 26 artists including Kathy Anderson, Stephanie Birdsall, Kelly Birkenruth, Dan Brown, Frank Bruckmann, Deborah Chabrian, Grace M. DeVito, Kirill Doron, Eileen Eder, Sandy Garvin, Vincent Giarrano, Jefferson Hayman, Carol Jenkins, Susan Jositas, Rosemary Ladd, Susan Nally, Michael Naples, Cora Ogden, Cindy Procious, Dennis Sheehan, John Smith, Elizabeth L. Strazzulla , George Van Hook, Sadie J. Valeri, Sandra Wakeen and Melanie Whaley.

The annual Still Life Invitational has become a focal point for painters and collectors of still life. Many of the artists are trained in the classical tradition and show a wide range of expression that is composistionally fresh with subtle, thoughtful narratives. Luscious fruits, chocolates, shells and flowers abound --at first glance, these are everyday objects. Looking closer, a subtle irony can sometimes emerge, making what might seem familiar, delightfully unfamiliar, says Susan Powell, owner of the gallery.
