Stair Sainty Gallery are specialists in French, Italian and Spanish seventeenth to early twentieth century painting and also handle occasional exceptional examples of sculpture. The gallery values trust and connoisseurship and practises rigorous scholarship.

Stair Sainty was founded in 1982 by Guy Stair Sainty, an author and expert on eighteenth and nineteenth century French painting, and has been a specialist gallery at the heart of the art market for more than twenty years. After two decades in townhouses on the upper-east side of New York, the gallery’s exhibition space is now an 18th century townhouse at 38 Dover Street, Mayfair, London.

The gallery is a member of the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, has exhibited at the Biennale des Antiquaires, Paris and exhibits annually at The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), Maastricht; Masterpiece Fair, London; and Paris Tableau.

Stair Sainty assist both institutional and private clients with individual paintings and in building collections. We help our clients in the acquisition, sale, appraisal, conservation and documentation of works of art whilst offering a discretion, thoroughness and guarantee unavailable at the auction houses.

The gallery has sold paintings and sculpture to more than 50 museums worldwide.
