Schneider Gallery is pleased to present the works of Lynn Saville and Suzette Bross. These two artists capture the urban environments of two major cities in the United States, New York and Chicago.

The vibrant work of Saville Night/Shift shows us New York at twilight and dawn. These architectural landscapes capture the nocturnal ghost-like life of New York’s empty spaces, which were once filled during daylight hours. Saville specializes in capturing urban and rural environments during twilight and dawn, which she refers to as, “the boundary times between night and day.”

By utilizing her camera phone during her commute, in the series iScapes Bross captures landscapes along the Chicago shoreline of her childhood. The movement and camera aberrations shown in the photographs reference memories of her childhood and how those memories, like the landscapes, warp over time. Bross also uses her camera phone to record the life of her children on a daily basis.
