Patricia Low Contemporary is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Sebastian Hammwöhner, alongside works by artists Darren Almond, Andre Butzer, Peter Coffin, Axel Hütte, Nathan Mabry, Stefan Rinck, Katja Strunz, Gavin Turk and Gabriel Vormstein.

Sebastian Hammwöhner's (b. in Frechen, Germany 1974) textile and rug drawings are laboriously handmade pastels on blackpaper. Highlighting his presentation for Art Brussels are the appropriations of Afghan war rugs, a series ofarchaic textiles from the Middle East and Americas, and a carpet drawing of a bastardized U.S. one hundreddollar note with a rough portrait of Benjamin Franklin. Deceptively realistic a thick frame and anti-reflectiveglass encloses them like vitrines preserving an antiquated object.

The work of Sebastian Hammwöhner is in the permanent collections of the Musée d’Art Contemporain of Bordeaux and the Sammlung zeitgenössischer Kunst der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
