The New York Academy of Art is proud to present
New York, NY USA
Friday, April 19, 2013–Friday, April 19, 2013
2013 MFA Open Studios on Friday, April 19, 6-9 PM
This annual event gives the public the rare opportunity to view artwork outside of the traditional gallery setting and interact with Academy artists-in-residence in their own studios.
The Academy will open more than 100 studios on five floors, allowing visitors to freely tour the diverse array of paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints. In addition to the artists themselves, Academy faculty and staff will be on hand to offer insight and provide context for the work, resulting in a distinctly interactive and intimate art viewing experience.
“The students here display a deep love for the traditional mediums of painting, drawing and sculpture, with an eye to contemporary culture,” says artist and Academy faculty chair Catherine Howe. “They are unique in this respect and offer us hope that these practices will continue and be relevant in the future.”
This event is free and open to the public.

Located in Tribeca and founded in 1982, the New York Academy of Art is a not-for-profit graduate school that combines intensive technical training with active critical discourse. In the belief that rigorously trained artists are best able to realize their artistic vision, Academy students learn to master the traditional methods and techniques and are encouraged to use these skills to make vital contemporary art. www.nyaa.edu
