Moeller Fine Art is pleased to announce its participation at the 10th Art Basel Miami Beach from 1-4 December (Hall D, Stand F6). In addition to major works by artists Lyonel Feininger, Alexej von Jawlensky, Mark Tobey, Richard Lindner and Morris Graves, Moeller Fine Art will show the project entitled "...inspired by Howard Wise”
Howard Wise, a pioneering proponent of electronic media art, opened galleries first in Cleveland and in New York. From 1960 to 1970, the New York gallery presented a number of landmark exhibitions including “On the Move,” the first U.S. survey exhibition of kinetic art, “Lights in Orbit,” the first comprehensive U.S. survey of kinetic light art, and “TV as a Creative Medium,” the first organized emergence of the then underground video movement. In 1971, Howard Wise closed his gallery to found Electronic Arts Intermix, an outlet for the emerging medium of video art.
At Art Basel Miami Beach, Moeller Fine Art will present a selling and loan exhibition of works by artists supported by Howard Wise, including works by Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Piero Dorazio, Takis, Julio Le Parc, Billy Apple, Charlotte Moorman, Edward Dugmore, Peter Sedgley, and Christo. A brochure with an essay by art historian Peter Selz will be published on the occasion of Art Basel Miami Beach. The exhibition will be presented in 2012 at Moeller Fine Art Berlin with a fully illustrated catalogue.
