LUC LEESTEMAKER - A RETROSPECTIVE: 20 YEARS OF PAINTING IN AMERICA

Saturday, June 5, 2010Monday, July 5, 2010

La Jolla, CA USA

Artist Reception
Saturday, June 5, 6 p.m.–9 p.m.

While Leestemaker's hurricanes of paint do not blow down our houses or flood our streets, they look – and feel – as if they could. They also look, and feel, as if they could transport our spirits to a place of ecstasy. Leestemaker finds the storm and invites us to ride it with him, to a place where painting and picture have entirely conflated.
– Peter Frank, Art Critic, Senior Museum Curator

A percentage of sales of this exhibition will be donated to support the Athenaeum's ongoing activities in education & the arts. Please join us in a special partnership with the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library on Tuesday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. for a conversation and book signing with Luc Leestemaker at the occasion of the publication of his new book, The Intentional Artist: Stories From My Life.
