In collaboration with the Leo Matiz foundation, M+V Art is pleased to present a selection of unpublished photographs by Leo Matiz (Colombia, 1917-1998) taken of Frida Kahlo in Mexico during the 1940s. These images are part of a recent discovery made by Alejandra Matiz, daughter of the artist and president of the foundation in 2012. The 55 negatives were found in a sealed envelope in the archives in Mexico, which were then documented and preserved for archival purposes. This is the first time a group of these photographs will be presented to the public.
