Title: Score of Vision
Date: Apr 2 –22, 2014
We are pleased to announce SINN’s solo exhibition “Score of Vision:Sound gaze VS Visual quarter)at the gallery. SINN is the artist’s stage name, meaning“Sense” in German. It also accompanies this exhibition for her to show the collaboration work with Symphonic Percussion Berlin. First inspired by MauricioKagel's15-minute composition with stage sets, DieHimmelsmechanik(subtitle: Presentation of various natural events), she recreates each range into spaceand suggests rhythm to be visualized through her own sensitive inscribing.
It is aluminum she chose to work. Her stubborn work processwith metallet her achieves rigidity from the media’s nature and luster by continuous polishing and brushing. The aluminum is polished by rough sand paper before colored andthen sharp tools keep making scratches onto it for over thousands of times until the original metal is exposed. The overlapped scars in different directions on the metal make such an ideal effect of a hologram which lead the viewers see vision of the image.
SINN graduated from Hongik University in 2000 and flew to Germany where she received MFA from The Berlin University of the Arts(UDK). Her works have been shown in many countriesincludingKorea, Germany, Japan, US, Swiss, Israel, etc. She was awarded NordArt3013 grand prize, NordArt2012Public Prize, and POSCO Steel Art Award.
