Logic of Imagination: Kim Young Jin Solo Exhibition
We are pleased to announce Logic of Imagination, Kim Young Jin’s solo exhibition from July 2nd through 15th at the gallery. Kim Young Jin continues his series of elaborately detailed, highly imaginative scenes of action and chaos in black and white Etching works. Each print within this series features a mode of transportation that is deconstructed and hybridized with mechanical and human forms emerging from every angle. He depicted ship or helicopter held together with morphing human and animal forms. Reminiscent of Western Medieval paintings and Surrealistic scenes, Kim Young Jin combines an Eastern background with Western influences and comments on the mechanization of the human form. In his recent works, the human form was revealed itself to speak of ‘fear for sense of sublimity’. In his point of view, people tend to noble a state of primitiveness without modern conveniences. The fear is reinterpreted through his own imagination.
