JoAnne Artman Gallery is pleased to announce Rimi Yang’s Solo Exhibition: Cosmic Dance! Drawing on a fascination with myth, history, and art practices from both the East and West, Korean-American painter Rimi Yang has synthesized a uniquely compelling visual lexicon. Yang’s diverse influences come to play in lush, vibrant canvases that explore the dualities of the human experience as well as the way the world is universally entwined. Whether figural or abstract, Yang’s work is remarkable for its expressive brushstrokes and evocative sense of wonder.
Yang is known for her intense enthusiasm for vibrant color, which is manifested in both her figurative and her abstract paintings. Celebrating the chaotic emotional duality that exists in life, she revels in the confusion mankind creates in its attempt to order the un-orderable and to explain the unexplainable. Adhering to Joseph Campbell’s dictum that the best things in life are those you cannot explain, her paintings are intuitive and instinctive balancing acts of contrasts.
Yang, who spent her childhood in Japan before moving to the United States in 1986, has trained extensively both in the U.S. and abroad, bringing her deep appreciation of art and classical technique to each piece she produces. She has been exhibited internationally and is the recipient of numerous awards.
Rimi Yang’s work will inspire, provoke, engage and mesmerize.
