Hakgojae Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of Tian Liming, the leading Chinese contemporary ink artist, from May 23rd to June 15th. Born in 1955, Tian Liming is currently based and working in Beijing. This will be the artist’s first solo exhibition in Korea showing his representing thirty-three ink works. ‘Light, Air, Water’, which is also the exhibition title, are the gist of Tian Liming’s works, and at the same time are the three elements that empower life. He clearly expresses the hope for the beautiful coexistence of the people and the nature through humble people who cooperate with pure water, clean air and the warm sunlight. Based on traditional Chinese ink paintings, Tian Liming creates original artworks and contributes to the sustainability and the prosperity of the Chinese figure paintings with his unique artistic language. He blurs the shape of specific figures to weaken the expression of its characteristics and features, which plays a crucial role to make his works more sophisticated and diverse. The dreamy atmosphere that dominates the artworks also leads the viewers into the mysterious paradise. Through his artworks, the viewers can have the peaceful mental experiences feeling the integration of people, freedom and vitality.
