Hakgojae Gallery is delighted to announce its first exhibition in 2014: Cho Hwan’s solo exhibition at gallery space 1.
Cho repeats the process of cutting and pasting iron plate and build the image. His steel plates are slow and heavy but subtle and inexorable. Cho’s works the result of brushstrokes of calligraphy, as well as the assemblage of simplified lines. Cho attempts to reach the essence of art through his plates.
The works displayed at the exhibition are without any frames but rather exhibited plate itself in the gallery space. The white walls with the works present the impression of looking at the blank of traditional oriental paintings.
The audiences facing works will experience the intimate space that specific shapes of images create.
