Qin Qi was born in 1975 in Shanxi Province, China, and graduated from Graduate Institute of Oil Painting in Lu Xun Art Academy. He is now working and living in Shenyang. He is well experienced at holding exhibitions in international museums including Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, St. Paul Museum of Contemporary Art, 4th Prague Biennale Karlin Hall, Seoul Museum of Art, National Art Museum of China, Shanghai Art Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, and Nanjing Museum. During these five years, in 2010, Qin Qi has held his first solo exhibition in Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai: ‘’Chairs Can Save Lives – QIN QI Solo Exhibition.’’
Through dramatic ways and grassroot humor, Qin Qi expresses the bored emotion of young people in that time and environment, creating a delicate connection between ‘’text’’ and images. Qin Qi, as an artist born in the 70s, has the classic features that other artists in the same generation have in his paintings, that is using self-expression as the center, self experience as a start, then create a visual expression system blended with realism, imaginality and fictionality.
