Per Inge Bjørlo – Til deg, til meg, til oss og lyden av kråkefugl / To you, to me, to us and the sound of a crow

26. April - 23. Juni 2012

The opening reception will take place on Thursday 26 April from 4.00-6.00 pm.

Both artists will be present at the opening.

On Thursday 26 April, Galleri Bo Bjerggaard will be opening no less than two exhibitions, with Per Bak Jensen exhibiting new photographs in the large exhibition room, while Per Inge Bjørlo will be showing drawings and site-specific installations in the small exhibition room.

At the exhibition "To you, to me, to us and the sound of a crow", Per Inge Bjørlo (b. 1952) will be showing a number of drawings and installations, all of which have been created in recent months. Per Inge Bjørlo is one of Norway's most distinctive contemporary artists. Over the years he has worked with many techniques, but his preferred materials of metal, rubber and textiles, and the themes of vulnerability and anxiety, have been recurring and recognizable features throughout his artistic production.

Galleri Bo Bjerggaard held its first solo exhibition by Per Inge Bjørlo back in 2008, when he filled the three large exhibition rooms with works dominated by polished steel, broken glass, sharply-pointed spikes, bright light and brutally-drawn self-portraits, which made a powerful impression on the public. This time the artist has created a different kind of intimate, compact expression in the gallery's small exhibition space. The themes still revolve around the pain and vulnerability of mankind, but with a slightly more placatory touch. In the catalogue accompanying the exhibition, art historian Caroline Ugelstad writes: "Bjørlo holds up all the awkward and vulnerable aspects of being human in front of us. He shows us the unbearable and horrifying sides of life. At the same time, his works possess a strongly aesthetic foundation. They’re not about being seductively beautiful, but about something genuine and true".

Per Inge Bjørlo recently received the art critics’ prize for his major retrospective exhibition at the Henie Onstad Art Centre in Oslo. His works are represented at the Tate in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, amongst other places.
