Born in Bitterfeld, grows up in Stralsund and Rostock, East Germany
1968 - 1972
Studies agriculture at the University of Rostock
1972 - 1977
Works as an agricultural engineer, attends drawing classic in his spare time and is largely inspired by Johannes Müller
1977 - 1980
Wins sholarship for place of study (master class) at the Academy of Arts, East Berlin under Gerhard Kettner
1979
Studied under Gerhard Kettner at the 'Akademie der Künste der DDR' as a master student
1985
Winner of the Wilhelm Höpfner Prize of the Winckelmann Society, Stendal
1988
Professor at the Kunsthochschule Weißensee, Germany
1990
Awarded fellowship by the Kunstring Folkwang, Essen
