Helsinki, Finland

Welcome to the opening reception in the presence of the artists, Thursday, September 13, 5-7 pm.

The works of Ola Kolehmainen (born 1964) presented in this exhibition are based on architectural relationships, both internal and external, as well as the intimate dialogue between art and architecture. The roots of this dialogue are not limited to a time period or an “ism,” but lie deeper.

The works on display at Galerie Forsblom were photographed in 2012 in Spain. The oldest photographs were based on buildings from the early 1970s, and the newest photographs were of buildings constructed the past few years. The represented architects are Ricardo Bofil, Emilio Ambasz, RCR Architects (Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem, Ramón Vilalta) and Sobejana & Nieto. Kolehmainen feels that these architects’ works were influenced by the ideas of Ludvig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier and Richard Serra.
