Welcome to the opening reception
in the presence of the artists,
Thursday, September 13, 5-7 pm.
The work of international award-winning designer, Harri Koskinen will be presented at Galerie Forsblom’s design exhibition series, held in honour of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012. This exhibition showcases a series of Koskinen’s impressive industrial sculptures, consisting of four themes that individually challenge the senses while recalling as a whole concepts such as indirect interaction and a state of experimentation. Motion and a state of stasis alternate intriguingly in Koskinen’s works at this exhibition.
Born from the language of industrial design, these unique pieces were created from diverse materials, including glass. The designer’s strong sense of design and his unique understanding of the materials are crystallized within the works – the pieces descend from the ceiling, rise up from the wall, or represent a state of transition. The pieces were created in Finland -- in Helsinki, Iittala and Hyvinkää -- as well as in Murano, Italy.
