Cris af Enehielm: Geisha!
Opening reception in the presence of the artist: Thursday, June 7, 5-7 pm.
Japanese Buto-dancer is performing in the exhibition opening at 17.15pm and 18.15pm.
Cris af Enehielm’s (born 1954) characteristic sensuality and exuberant style of painting is visible in the works of the Geisha! exhibition. The artist has found inspiration for her new works from her own daydreams and dreams. These paintings exude a romanticism that transports us to distant lands.
Content wise, in af Enehielm’s acrylic and oil paintings time and space are extended over a large sphere that encompasses different times and different cultures. Stylistic similarities can be found in styles such as early 1900s fauvism and pointillism. The artist’s passionate relationship with colour is not just nostalgia for days gone by. Paintings saturated by colours comfort us and lead us to the depths of dreams and hopes, to some kind of secret places which do not exist.
