Ju Hong Chen, originally from China, came to live in The Dalles, Oregon in 1983 where his first job in America was painting advertisements on billboards along the highway. At that time he became friends with the family and friends of Chief Tommy Thompson who were mourning the loss of Celilo Falls. He painted this painting in 1988 in honor of his new friends. Ju Hong Chen, born in Communist China, rebelled against the government, only beginning to exhibit his paintings after the Cultural Revolution. He came to the United States seeking a greater platform for expression through his paintings. His paintings, for the most part, are female portraitures which blend Confucian refinement with a hint of Western style.

Ellen Dittebrandt lives in the Columbia Gorge area of Oregon where she explores the woodland countryside viewing the surrounding scenes and using them as subjects for her acrylic paintings. Each painting is a unique experience, bold, with an uninhibited style that is refreshing, exciting and intriguing setting her apart from the usual landscape artists. Her theme is nature as she paints with depth and perspective, giving the viewer a fresh, intense and vibrant view of nature using her luscious jewel tone colors and botanical shapes.
