Tommer's oil paintings on canvas with their bold and often subtle palettes radiating dynamic patterns are reminiscent of the early modern abstract expressionists. His unique works portray a subtle strength while still being complicated and layered. There is a definitive statement as well as a colorful and dynamic surprise found in each painting. Recently, the Multnomah Athletic Club purchased two of Tommer's largest abstract paintings from his "Ethel" series 6' x 9's for their new dining room in the men's bar.
