Teresa Stengel is a figure in contemporary graphic arts who approaches the object and its sequential possibilities in space with conceptual power. Her expressions convey and conform tensions/rhythms/ displacements, which, by virtue of their integrate nature, reach dialogues of singular purity. In that way, her “Books of Artist” constitute a beautiful lesson of creative rigor in signs and symbols that reformulate visual counterpoints of strong perceptual impact. Her fraternal encounter with Néstor Goyanes and Yong Hwa Cho – all three disciples of De Vicenzo- and so many other Brazilian artists, reconcile in Conexoes (exhibition that comes today from Río de Janeiro to Buenos Aires), a bridge of harmonious energy.

I believe we can talk about a paradox, a contradiction, at least in appearance. An initial work thought precisely to record an image, immediately starts to suffer alterationes. Superpositons, densities, and other and new inventions go slowly creating a new dimension. Teresa Stengel, steadfast, engraves and engraves again shades, cuts, shreds, deconstructs and constructs her engravings and paints as a real ritual. Without perpetuing or editing, she proposes a critic dialogue of multiplicities and understandings in her work.
