Rhona Hoffman Gallery is pleased to announce India ~ Sri Lanka, the most recent exhibition of Kehinde Wiley’s World Stage series. This is Wiley’s third solo exhibition at the gallery. Following his interpretations of China, Africa and Brazil, Wiley's latest series of his iconic portraits draw inspiration from his travels in Southeast Asia. The World Stage: India ~ Sri Lanka represents the continued evolution of Wiley's exploration of ethnic identity in contemporary aesthetics as he brings his disciplined realism to focus on New Delhi, Mumbai and Sri Lanka.
Recent solo exhibitions of Wiley’s work have taken place at The Brooklyn Museum of Art (Brooklyn, New York), the Columbus Museum of Art (Columbus, Ohio) the Portland Art Museum (Portland, Oregon) and most recently The Studio Museum in Harlem (New York, New York). He has also been included in exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, (Los Angeles, California), the Rubell Family Collection, (Miami, Florida), the National Portrait Gallery (Washington, D.C.), and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York, New York).
A hardcover catalogue of the exhibition, published by Rhona Hoffman Gallery, Chicago, Illinois will be available in Spring of 2011. Please contact the gallery for more details.
