Mario García Miró: Inside Out
March 2010 – May 2010
Opening Reception:
Saturday, April 10th, 11am - 3pm
Anderson Galleries, Inc. is pleased to present INSIDE OUT, a collection of new works by Mario García Miró.
These playful yet stunningly executed contemporary paintings challenge our perceptions of the interior and exterior worlds we inhabit. Miró creates minimalist architectural spaces where the comforts of home are reduced to their simplest forms and emphasized in bright primary colors. Voyeuristic windows of these rooms display sublime naturalistic landscapes of the plein-air manner. The combination of these two distinct styles in a single canvas at first startles but then beguiles us. Nineteenth century Romantics believed that an artist must leave the artificial environment of the studio and paint directly from nature to find true inspiration. Miró invites us to investigate this notion. His paintings draw inspiration from the modern and the traditional, from the artificial and the natural: inside and out.
Mario García Miró lives and works in his native Barcelona. In the long tradition of Spanish painters from this city, he is an accomplished realist with a decidedly modern and personal point of view. His major influences include the Classicist painters of the Olot School as well as western Europe’s cutting edge realists. Miró is a member of the well known Amigos Del Realismo. His “fusion” paintings are a unique style of representational art, blending abstract architectural elements with hyper-real natural scenes.
