Song Yongxing The White Gloves Under the Sun, 2010
Reception : 2012/08/11 (Sat.) 15:00 - 18:00
Gallery J Chen has the pleasure to present the exhibition of the Chinese artist Song Yong Xing, whose artworks represent his special way of seeing. At first glance, Song’s paintings convey a quiet and peaceful atmosphere; however, under the tranquility the subjects of these paintings are often associated to serious or even crucial historical and social events. This contrast also reflects in the form and color arrangement: Song uses fleeting brush strokes to depict solemn subject matter and sometimes under the grey tone Song actually expresses restrained emotion. The close-up images also make Song’s truth a hypothetical one, and the beholders could be indifferent but at the same time get involved by their own experience. From his detaching yet involving images, Song Yong Xing reformulated his memories, and shows his unique sober warmness.
