Marino Marini – Alessandro Algardi "The Form and the Poetry”    Oct 7 - Dec 21, 2011

This two part exhibition is designed to celebrate the successes and talents of two great Italian artists: the acclaimed 20th century Italian sculptor Marino Marini and Alessandro Algardi, a significant artist of today’s Italian and European contemporary scene. Such an endeavour epitomizes Imago Art Gallery’s ambition to establish itself as a focal point in London for modern and contemporary Italian art thus acting as a meeting point of England for the celebration and promotion of Italian Art and culture.

Marino Marini – Alessandro Algardi “The Form and the Poetry” is set to follow the successfull two part exhibition “Through Light… and Space…” with selected works by Giorgio Morandi and Matteo Pugliese in 2009.

The exhibition will take place this autumn and it is conceived to create a dialogue between the Modern and Contemporary Italian art. On the one hand the work created by Marino Marini, influenced by the Etruscan art, reveals his devotion to sculpture. On the other hand the contemporary canvases Alessandro Algardi can be considered as a form of art placed between painting and writing. At a first sight these two artists seem to have a different aesthetic and look like using different techniques. However, if we observe their works we realize that Algardi uses for his canvases the same tools and instruments as the modern sculptor Marino Marini. The aim of both artists is to esperimentate the field of matter and the form in order to create a piece of art that reveal a poetic harmony.
