This month at Mayberry Fine Art in Winnipeg Square, the work of Toronto-based artist, Celia Neubauer. Her abstract landscape paintings explore the ephemeral beauty and fleeting passage of the serendipitous image. Through the subtractive and additive action of a brush, Celia allows her imagery to materialize, bringing out a tenuous play between obliteration and recovery.
Neubauer earned a BFA from York University in 1986 and Higher Diploma in 1990 from the Slade School of Fine Art in London, England. She has taught as a part-time lecturer at the University of Toronto’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, the University of Guelph, and most recently as a sessional instructor of painting and drawing at Queen’s University in Kingston.
