Sebastian + Barquet is pleased to present Precious Metals, an exhibition of historic examples of modern and contemporary furniture design in metal.
Since the mid 1920’s and the early experiments of such pioneering designers as Jean Prouve, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, metal has played a fundamental part in the history of furniture design and continues to do so today.
Ranging from a 1929 MR 90 Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe “Barcelona” Easy Chair (Berliner Metallgewerbe Joseph Muller), this show brings together a collection of pre and post war icons that will also include a 1935 Le Corbusier LC4 Adjustable Chaise (EmbruWerke), a 1957 Isamu Noguchi prototype table in anodized aluminum for the ALCOA forecast program, and a 2008 Philip Michael Wolfson unique Line Desk in painted and bent aluminum.
