Serena Carone, Gretchen Ryan, Hidde van Schie
30 juin - 31 juillet 2010

June 30 - July 31, 2010

We are very pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition with Serena Carone, Gretchen Ryan and Hidde van Schie, a project that brings together artists from different backgrounds (Paris, Los Angeles, Rotterdam), with outstanding individualities and eclectic careers, but whose respective universes echo one another by their singularity. This three-voice conversation will be an opportunity to present the works of artists discovered during unexpected encounters, and who have rarely - or never - exhibited in France.

Serena Carone (France - 1958) is a self-taught artist who creates works according to a discreet but hard-worked process based on the deflection of the quotidian. She exhibited at Galerie Lambert, then continued her art more secretly, confining her creations to a familiar setting and inventing a peculiar world evolving in its own rhythm. Her last works made between 2009 and 2010, will be showed at the gallery and presented to the public for the first time, and tackle the subjects of couple and captivity.

Hidde van Schie (1978 - The Netherlands) is a visual artist and a musician who investigates how, in fashion, advertising, sports, porn, music etc, different sets of esthaetics rules express specific moral values, through a repulsive and controversial imagery. He is graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam (2001), and awarded the 'Bunning Brongers Award for Painting' (2002). His work has been shown in Australia, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, Mexico, Romania, Poland and Finland...

Gretchen Ryan (1975 - USA) lives and works in Los Angeles. Her works explores the themes of perfection, youth, and standard through the prism of the industry of children's pageant, and its underlying ambiguity. She exhibited at the Bristol City Museum (2010), at the Fred Torres Collaborations and at the Johnathan Levine Gallery in New York (2009), at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago...
