Opening Reception March 13th, 6 - 9PM.
Adamar Fine Arts is pleased to exhibit new glass sculptures by Florida artist Marlene Rose. On display will be over 20 pieces of her newest work.
Inspired by the artist's contrasting depiction of the ancient and modern in coexistence, collectors are intrigued by the highly masculine, "fire and brimstone" sand casting process controlled so finely by the "petite" artist.
"The dance of it is amazing," says Marlene Rose - of her sand casting process, which uses a negative image "stamp" in special sands and clay to take the form of molten glass. The roar of the furnaces, the torches, the searing heat. There is drama, danger, fire - and ultimately, transformation into beauty.
The result is a body of extraordinary work using 20th Century artifacts mixed with the glass sculpture to communicate about today's society in a form, which reflects both the ancient and the mythical.
"These modern relics are shards of what I have seen, unnamed emotions, visions, concepts, memories. Excuses to imagine other worlds, prods to a future we have half-forgotten."
