Johanna Ehrnrooth 'Screen Paintings' Apr 12 - May 9, 2013
Welcome to the opening reception
in the presence of the artists,
Thursday, April 11, 5-7 pm.
In an old Chinese tale set during the Tang Dynasty, artist Wu Tao-tzu steps inside his newly finished mural. In a similar manner Johanna Ehrnrooth’s oil paintings open the door to the fascinating world of reality and fantasy. The paintings on exhibition at Galerie Forsblom provide a glimpse into the essence of the Wu Tao-tzu myth.
Observation-related issues are one of the central themes in Ehrnrooth’s art. Her investigations into viewership continue in her latest works. Reflections of mirror and glass that form multi-dimensional pictures are the artist’s starting point, but her earlier mirror compositions have given way to works comprised of separate picture panels. In the cryptic picture fragments of the new screen panels the same subject can be seen from different angles, while the works themselves can also be approached from different sides and angles.
