Superstar. A term used to describe a personality that is exemplary within their field of practice. To inaugurate the 2012 program, Guy Hepner announces a curated exhibit featuring work from three veritable heavyweights from the post war field.

United by the scale of their achievements, yet vastly different in terms of both personality and working styles, Basquiat, Lichtenstein and Warhol offers an insight into the progression of the post war pop art movement and it's graduation into the neo pop graffiti genre of the 1980's. For the exhibition, which commences at Guy Hepner West Hollywood, a complete suite of Basquiat's posthumous screen prints hang alongside work from Lichtenstein's Reflections and Interiors series.

The contrast between the Basquiat and Lichtenstein styles is particularly interesting according to gallery founder Guy Hepner: "viewing Basquiat's angry, tortured brushstrokes sit in vivid juxtaposition to Lichtenstein's meticulous, precise work. Yet the overall impact of each artists work have striking similarities, reached with widely divergent techniques."

Supplementary to them sit choice works created by Warhol from the Ads and Myths series, both from late in Warhol's career. The 1980s was a particularly strong period for the artist, gallery director Cassandra Acedera elaborates: "The two prime periods for Warhol's work are the early 1960s and 1980s. Having experimented throughout the 1970s with more alternative subject matter, the 80s marked a return to the artist producing some of his finest work, especially within the screen print genre. The exhibition highlights some of the most prevalent examples".

Three artists, three styles, more impressive exhibition of post war styles.
