Concurrent with the Barsness exhibition is a show of 8 assemblages and collages by
CHARLES MARSH. This is Marsh’s third exhibition at the gallery and the first to
include his assemblages as well as a rare self-portrait.
Created during the decade before Marsh’s premature death at 52 in 2000, the works in
the exhibition seem pointedly autobiographical and present a darker side to his art.
For example, the small cloth doll punctured by hypodermic needles is a reference to
his struggle with heroin addiction, while the photo-collage featuring a Klansman
encircled by a rubber hose references his unhappy childhood in Greenville, SC.
The exhibitions of works by Marsh are on view through October 27th.
