Reception and Book Signing: Saturday, February 26 from 3 to 5 pm Artists Barbara Bullock, Faith Ringgold and Danny Simmons will be present.

ACA Galleries is delighted to present Visions of America: A Black Perspective, an exhibition of paintings, drawings and sculpture spanning 150 years. There will be a special presentation on Faith Ringgold’s Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling on Saturday, February 26 from 2 to 3pm. A reception will follow.

Exhibition highlights include:

19th century landscapes by Edward Bannister and a rare still life by Robert Scott Duncanson.

Junction Piquette, a large fabric collage by Romare Bearden, will also be featured in the forthcoming traveling exhibition, Romare Bearden: Southern Recollections, organized by the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC.

Three exceptional works by Charles White: Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child has not been exhibited in 60 years; Mater Delorosa was included in his first show at ACA in 1946 and Mayube Afrika was formerly in the collection of Lorraine Hansberry, author of Raisin in the Sun.

Works by Edward Bannister, Romare Bearden, John Biggers, Barbara Bullock, Aaron Douglas, Robert Scott Duncanson, Barkley Hendricks, Alvin Loving, Richard Mayhew, Norman Lewis, Charles Ethan Porter, Faith Ringgold, Aminah Robinson, Charles Searles, Danny Simmons and Charles White are on view.
