FIAC, Paris    Oct 19 - Oct 23, 2011

FIAC, Paris, October 19 - 23, 2011

Dear friends of the gallery,

We are pleased to inform you of our participation at this yearʼs FIAC in the Grand Palais in Paris. Our booth (No. A06) is located in the Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries sector, near the VIP entrance. In comparison to last year our booth has doubled in size. Our presentation is focused on the Figure in painting, drawing and sculpture. We will be showing works by the following artists of the gallery:

In the various works of Francis Alÿs the masculine figure appears as a main character. In the exhibition he is represented with different works on paper and painting as for example the diptych Untitled (1993) combining an early painting with a work on paper.

Hernan Bas will exhibit the large-format (244x275 cm) painting The Dead Line (2011). Here, Hernan Bas constructs an impossible location, in which he places an isolated figure. Works on paper complement this presentation.

Valérie Favre is represented with a large new variation of her series of Lapine Univers (2011). Additionally, a number of smaller works will be on show.

Raffi Kalenderian observes the people around him. For the paintings and works on paper shown at the fair, he asked his friends and acquaintances to model for him. This is also the case in his newest work on paper Erics (2011) as well as his new paintings Andrew, Jc and Sascha (Poolside) (all 2011).

From Fabian Marti there will be large ceramics on view, which tie into his earlier pieces, such as the installation The Summit of It (2011), on view at the Biennale in Venice until the end of November. The objects are combined with new unique photograms, which are a further development of the photogram series Cosmic Laughter (2011).

Fabian Marti and Jorge Macchi understand the figure as an element of repetition. Jorge Macchi, whose work is presently being exhibited at the Biennale in Lyon, will show new works on paper, such as the large (135x180 cm) watercolor Canon (2011).

Apart from the pieces in the exhibition we will have documentation material for available works of further artists of the gallery:
Rita Ackermann, Maja Bajevic, Michael Bauer, Willie Doherty, Bruno Jakob, Jochen Kuhn, Zilla Leutenegger, Teresa Margolles, Duncan Marquiss, Claudia & Julia Müller, Adrian Paci, Bernd Ribbeck, Melanie Smith, Javier Téllez, Tercerunquinto, Andro Wekua, Artur Zmijewski

For further questions please contact Annemarie Reichen (a.reichen@peterkilchmann.com).

With best regards,
The team of Galerie Peter Kilchmann
