Opening Reception December 8, 6-8pm
Nancy Margolis Gallery is pleased to present Works on Paper by Erin Murray and
Tom Ngo in the gallery Viewing Room. The exhibit will be shown from December 8,
2011 to January 14, 2012 with the opening reception Thursday, December 8, 6 to 8
pm.
Erin Murray's meticulous graphite drawings present common architecture on a
seemingly abandoned stage. A withering aura of isolation imbues these intense, quiet
landscapes.
Murray received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD.
She has shown in numerous exhibitions throughout Philadelphia and recently had a
solo exhibition at the Abington Art Center, Philadelphia, PA. Her work is included in
the collections of Center for Emerging Visual Artists, and Temple University,
Philadelphia, PA.
Tom Ngo’s playful drawings of architectural elements bring together his two
backgrounds as a mixed media artist and an intern at a prestigious architectural firm
in Toronto. His surreal depictions of homes and buildings on swing sets or
attached to bicycles use the familiar elements of architecture in an illogical and
whimsical way.
Ngo graduated from Carleton University, Ottowa, ON where he received his Masters
of Architecture. His work has been included in many solo and group exhibitions in
the Toronto area.
