We are thrilled to announce Jung Bo Yeon’s solo exhibition at the gallery. Jung paints such different kinds of sweeties as jelly beans, candy canes, and lollypops to recreate new sceneries of her own sugary world.

Jung prepares a shinny and softy canvas with continuous brushes until it loses its original texture to depict the candies onto it. She then cleverly uses many colors to paint various shapes and glittering of melting candies. In her works, there are Hyper-real sceneries of scattered, piled, or stood up candies which makes the viewers perceive them as not a painting but a photograph. In fact, Jung shots photos of candies, melted by torch on purpose. And she presents more realistic configuration and expression of melting itself. Meanwhile, whole new organic formations are recreated by distinct hues of gooey lumps and makes the viewers wonder what original objects are before they run down. Jung enjoys exploring these two notions of Hyper-real and obscurity.

Jung graduated Daegu University in Korea. It is her first solo exhibition in Seoul.
