Internationally renowned British photographer Don McCullin is known throughout the world for his photojournalism and particularly recognised for his war photography and images of urban strife. This unique and exclusive exhibition comprises twenty-three of his first-ever platinum prints. The show includes a selection of his favourite works ranging from ethnographic and still life images to British landscapes and pictures from his recent book Southern Frontiers. Dawn, The Elephant Festival, Bihar, as pictured above, is a particularly beautiful and sensitive image when printed in platinum. McCullin is known for printing his own works, however this exhibition is a one off project:

“I have always prided myself on printing my own works but have had to trust in specialist printers to master these beautiful, soft and subtle platinum prints. The exhibition marks a move forward from tradition into a new area; the first ever examples of my platinum prints.” Don McCullin.

Produced in editions of only 10, the prints start at £8,250 GBP + VAT.

In 1961 McCullin secured a contract with The Observer for two guineas per week. The role, initially based in England, eventually took McCullin all over the world covering scenes of conflict and civil strife. McCullin has exhibited internationally, has been widely published and his works are held in a number of private and institutional collections. Today he is hailed a leading authority in photojournalism and his significant commendations include the 1964 World Press Photo Award, an appointment as Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993 and the International Center of Photography Cornell Capa award in 2006.
