In den Jahren 1978/79 entstand die Serie “Rot Gelb Blau” von Imi Knoebel.
Für diese Serie bestrich er Papier mit Farbe in den drei Grundfarben Rot,
Gelb und Blau. Dann wurden Formen mit einem Cutter ausgeschnitten, um
sie dann auf einem weiteren Blatt zu collagieren. Die Arbeiten gehören zu
Knoebels Serien der “Messerschnitte”.
Auf Wunsch des Künstlers wurde die Serie “Rot Gelb Blau 1993 grafisch
umgesetzt.
54 Originalarbeiten “Rot Gelb Blau” bildeten die Vorlage für die Umsetzung
im Siebdruckverfahren. Es war das aufwendigste Projekt, das ich je verlegt
habe. An zahllosen Stellen in den einzelnen Blättern ging es darum, dass
die Überlagerungen und Überschneidungen sozusagen unsichtbar gemacht
werden mussten. Das war nur möglich mit Hilfe eines für diese Siebdruck-
Serie erstellten Computerprogramms.
Die Serie “Rot Gelb Blau” benutzte Imi Knoebel als Vorlage für die 6 Fenster
der Kathedrale Notre-Dame de Reims in Frankreich. Bei Kerber erschien anlässlich
der Einweihung im Juli das Buch: Buntglasfenster für die Kathedrale
von Reims.
Die Grafiken können als ganze Serie bezogen werden - es ist möglich, auch
einzelne Grafiken zu erwerben.

The series "Red Yellow Blue" by Imi Knoebel was produced in the years 1978/79.
To make this series, first he painted paper in the three primary colours, red, yellow
and blue. He then used a cutter to score out forms, creating a collage with these
forms on a different sheet. The works are part of Knoebel's series of "knife-cuts".
At the artist's request, the series "Red Yellow Blue" was also realised as a set of
graphic prints in 1993.
54 original works "Red Yellow Blue" provided the patterns for a realisation using
the screen-printing process. This was the most complicated publishing project that
I have ever embarked on. In many places on the individual sheets it was necessary
to make the overlaps and superimpositions invisible, so to speak. This was
only possible with the aid of a computer programme especially written for this
series of screen prints.
Imi Knoebel used the series "Red Yellow Blue" as a pattern for his 6 windows in
the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Reims in France. To mark the occasion of their
dedication in July, Kerber published the book: Buntglasfenster für die Kathedrale
von Reims (Stained Glass Windows for Reims Cathedral).
The graphic works may be purchased as a complete series - but it is also possible
to buy single graphic prints.
