An Exhibition of Synchronicity
YONG JO JI
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
"My work is a multilayered fusion of deconstructed art techniques, media and materials reconstituted and integrated in a modern day context.
Disintegrated pop-culture images from advertisements and recycled industrial materials awaken new perceptions and meanings of the public world; layers of recurring and constantly evolving forms and images overlap and sync together allowing each mark its own importance and recognition; underneath the rhythm of the work there is foundation in the depth of the human sub consciousness. The rhythms of repetition and change are seated deeply into the human sub consciousness through the rhythms in nature – the cycles of day and night, the seasons, the reproduction of plants and animals.
My awareness, My dialogue and interaction with the environment, becomes the work itself – it is My collective energy and expression; a visual language that could be understood by all, connecting the universal and the individual organically."
