The Photographic Arts Council / Los Angeles and the dnj Gallery are pleased to announce COLLECTORS' FAVORITES, a special exhibition of the photographs on loan from the private collections of members of the Photographic Arts Council / Los Angeles (PAC/LA) hosted by the dnj Gallery. A public opening will take place on Saturday, August 17th, 7:00-9:00 pm.
Some 60 photographs will be on view, ranging from early examples of the medium to contemporary works by newly emerging artists. COLLECTORS' FAVORITES, in its forth year, reflects the diverse passions and interests of PAC/LA's members, who include many leading California photography collectors. This year's exhibition includes works by Max Yavno, Minor White, Gary Winogrand, and Graciela Iturbide, to name a few. As in the past, the prints on display will be accompanied by a brief statement from each collector explaining his or her thoughts on collecting and the reasons for selecting the photographs included in the exhibition.
The Photographic Arts Council / Los Angeles began as a support group for the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at LACMA, but became an independent non-profit earlier this year. For a modest annual membership fee, PAC/LA members are eligible to view special collections, visit artists' studios, participate in private educational seminars on collecting, travel to visit museums in other cities, and attend exclusive receptions at area museums.
