Studied at the Slade where he was awarded the Tonks prize

Founder-member of the London Group; exhibited with the Vorticists

Commissioned by the Canadian War Records Office to paint "Sappers at Work"

Lived in Palestine where he developed his strongly expressive geometric style
1930 - 1939
Lived in Spain
1945 - 1953
During the Second World War he was an Official War Artist, and after the war taught at the Borough Polytechnic in London
