First Thursday Reception April 3, 6-9pm
Sandra Jones Campbell's depiction of social scenes reflect both her professional respect for the 30's style German Expressionists Max Beckman and Otto Dix as well as her uniquely gentle wit. Multiple figures populate lively acrylic paintings on canvas with images that blend Sandra's optismism and candor along with her artist's keen visual skill, balancing color, form, composition, humor and subject matter. Sandra, originally from Hermiston, Oregon has exhibited her famous party scene paintings at the Attic Gallery since 1984.
Z. Z. Wei, who came to the Pacific Northwest from China in 1989 on a cultural exchange became an artist in residence at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Over the years, Z,Z, has captured the essence of the Pacific Northwest in his oil paintings of rolling wheat fields, wide open and hauntingly empty spaces, solitarty farms on a hill, empty winding roads with a single vintage car or truck, trees , and foreboding shadows, or a lone bicyclist all reminiscent of the occasional loneliness found in America's farm country.
