Biography
1894 Born in Miesbach, Bavaria, Germany
1913 At the Munich Art Academy he started out in Heinrich von Zügel's painting class but changed after a semester to Becker-Gundahl's class in drawing from the nude.
1915 Published "Sirius, eine Monatsschrift für Literatur and Kunst"
1915 Published a portfolio of ten woodcuts, "Christian Schad", at the Sirius press
1916 Christian Schad moved to Geneva to join the Dada movement
1919 Experimented with what he called Schadographs (photography without a camera or lenses)
1920 Abandoning Dada, Schad turned to painting his first realistic pictures
1942 Worked as a cultural critic and for the theatre
1982 Died in Stuttgart, Germany
