We are proud to announce the first London exhibition of young American artist Leigh Tarentino. Leigh was born in Albany NY and trained at Rhode Island School of Design (MFA).
She makes digital prints, works on paper and paintings constructed from photographs of the built landscape. In her work she pays homage to the landscape of her childhood: “an industrial area of upstate New York, which was gritty, fairly mundane and a little disappointing visually” and transcends it in to places of unexpected beauty.
She has been the recipient of many awards and grants, including an ‘Award of Excellence’ in 1994 from Rhode Island School of Design, a Pollock-Krasner grant in 2008 and a ‘Humanities Research Award’ from Brown University (2011). She is a Professor at Brown University where she specialises in digital imaging.
