Back in the 1970’s, Ivor Abrahams was the “Hot Ticket”. His
international reputation with landmark exhibitions in New
York, London, Cologne was mounted on the groundbreaking
use of subject for sculpture: the English garden.
The Henry Moore Institute at Leeds City Art Gallery are
reprising this work from their recent acquisitions hitherto
unknown to a contemporary audience. The Mayor Gallery is
showing a number of sculptures also from this period and
onwards, up until the present day. Ivor Abrahams’s work has
turned full circle back to the Suburban idyll where his
inspiration began. Thought provoking and challenging, his
work in new media remains at the cutting edge.
