NATALIA ARIAS
TABOO – PASSAGES
March 9 – April 10, 2005

The Nohra Haime Gallery is pleased to present Natalia Arias’ first one person exhibition. TABOO will be on view at the gallery from March 9 – April 10, 2005. The exhibition consists of a series of enigmatic photographs dealing with life and the right of passage.

“At birth we greet the world without reservation and with time and practice, we learn to unlearn, to clutter the uncluttered, to impose boundaries on limitless horizons, to avoid the unspeakable. Nature bespeaks of a simple harmony in all, culture tells us that what is natural is not necessarily desirable. "Taboo" looks to brush away some of these obscuring clouds, to find again fragments of natural beauty, once ours, now lost.”
Natalia Arias

Natalia Arias was born in England, grew up in Colombia, studied at the Savannah College of Art and now lives and works in Miami. She has been included in “Constructing Identity: Race, Gender, Sexuality,” Stamford Art Gallery, University of Connecticut, Stamford, CT and “Past Present Future: The State of the World,” Okaloosa Walton Art Center, Niceville, FL
